Aneesah's identity is deeply influenced by diverse life experiences, culture, heritage and traditions. She often draws inspiration from her family. Her artwork reflects cultural elements emphasizing components that contribute to and blend African American culture in the United States. The narrative of her Kicks & Culture program is to explore staples from community to personal backgrounds as well as worldly explorations such as pop culture and hip hop and how they reflect artistically in streetwear fashion and footwear.

The Kicks & Culture program starts with an introduction; a brief history of the sneakerhead movement through ice breakers, videos, and open discussion. This allows participants to begin to think about the project and draw inspiration for what they see and learn. Students will also be encouraged to think about the artistic statement they want their shoe or shoes to have. After the initial introduction, participants will sketch their design on paper. Students will be prompted to take risks. All designs should incorporate self, community, or worldly expressions or influences and create a social impact that cultivates appreciation and understanding of the movement. Once satisfied with their designs, students will learn safety & prep techniques, before jumping into the shoe design process.

The program involves designing one shoe as an art or exhibition piece or a pair of shoes for wearing or an exhibit piece. Participants may also bring personal shoes from home. Supplies involved can be acrylics, dyes, inks, stencils, acrylic markers, pencils, stamps, acetone, alcohol, masking tape, blow dryers, and sealant spray. Students will explore aspirations and goals as they push the design forward. Participants will explore materials and techniques that are unfamiliar and challenging, and gain an appreciation for art.

After the shoe or shoes are finished, they will focus on completing an artist statement and what the design says about them, their art, and its impact. A Q & A will be conducted afterwards for further understanding and general knowledge. Culinary and alcohol ink workshops are also available.

Aneesah is a Little Rock-based artist who has been creating art throughout her life. A graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, with an undergraduate and master’s degrees, she currently works as a programs director for the Arts and Science Center. She was also the former director of curation for the United Methodist Museum of the Arkansas Conference. She is represented at The ARTSpace on Main in Pine Bluff and previously at Art DeCentrale in Springdale and Rogers. Her artwork has been exhibited across the state, including venues such as Brandon House Cultural and Performing Arts Center, INTERFORM, Batesville Area Arts Council, and Lyon College.

She is a former art teacher at Mohammed Schools in Little Rock and has facilitated workshops for several schools including Friendship Aspire Academy and James Matthews Elementary in Pine Bluff. Additionally, she has done workshops for the Central Arkansas Library System. She has been featured in several publications, including the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, The Idle Class Magazine, and Women's United Art Movement Magazine and aside from her website, her art can be seen on the Arkansas Committee National Museum of Women in the Arts roster and the Arkansas Arts Council Artist Registry.
