The Old State House Museum is the original state capitol building of Arkansas and the oldest standing state capitol building west of the Mississippi River. Since 1833, when construction began, the building and its grounds have witnessed many of the most important events in Arkansas history. Today, the museum’s exhibits and events are open to the public.
Our Mission
To interpret the history of Arkansas from statehood to the present, to
preserve the Old State House, and to collect and preserve artifacts that
aid in that interpretation and preservation.
At the Old State House Museum, you can bring a smile to a child, understanding to an adult and recollection to a senior citizen. As a volunteer, you can make a difference here.
