We Build Community!
Our GetSmART! Learning Series program connects artists with resources, funders, and peers while building upon professional development skills that help artists thrive. Our learning events cover topics for individuals, businesses and nonprofits. From grant writing to marketing, we have something for everyone.
Created in 2014, GetSmART! was designed to provide training and networking opportunities to Arkansas creatives for free or reduced cost. The program includes the Lunch & Learn series, which develops and strengthens nonprofit organizations.
Past topics through GetSmART! include starting a nonprofit, fundraising, copyright law, investing, pricing your visual art, data collection, getting into galleries, playwriting, editing your writing, branding and more. See more workshops on our YouTube channel.
The Arkansas Arts Council also sponsors Artist INC programs through Mid-America Arts Alliance, which is the regional arts organization that includes Arkansas. Artist INC Express and Artist INC Live programs are provided to different locations statewide and online as part of a learning opportunity to connect creatives and increase business-related skills. This year, Artist INC Express will be held regionally in Mena and Mountain View. All fees for this program are waived for Arkansas creatives. Please scroll down to learn more.

Artist INC Express - Arkansas Statewide (MENA)
- Day 2: Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Artist INC Express - Arkansas Statewide (Virtual)
- Day 1: Friday, Jan. 29, 2027, at 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
- Day 2: Saturday, Jan. 30, 2027, at 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Day 3: Sunday, Jan. 31, 2027, noon - 3 p.m.
- All fees waived through the Arkansas Arts Council.

Artist INC Express is an intensive, multi-day workshop created to address the specific business needs and challenges creatives of all disciplines face every day. The program is designed to focus participants on learning the most essential skills in the shortest amount of time.
Led by professional artist facilitators, the sessions are highly interactive and include activities and discussions focused on goal setting, writing about one’s work, and building a personal brand — the building blocks for a sustainable art practice and a successful arts business.

Artist INC LIVE is a training seminar designed to address the specific professional and entrepreneurial challenges that artists of all disciplines face in their practices. Artists will learn and grow together through artist facilitator mentoring, small group activities, large group discussions, multimedia lectures and a remarkable opportunity for networking with other artists.
