I refer to my current body of work as the “brain rattles series”. Forms from this series are hand built and simplified wild animals. They have holes where the eyes would be to draw attention to the darkness of the interior space. This black space represents something beyond knowing or understanding.
I use slip, under glazes, clear glaze, and sometimes gold enamel to achieve my colorful surfaces. The symbols, images, codes… I brush onto the surface of my work create a documentation of self. This documentation highlights both the important and mundane in my life.
