Arts On Tour

The Arts on Tour roster lists a broad spectrum of Arkansas’s finest solo and ensemble performers, individual visual artists and prepared art exhibitions ready for touring within Arkansas. The online AOT listing facilitates the booking process for arts organizations, festival and event planners, schools, civic organizations and government entities interested in contracting with the artists.

The AOT program is designed to reimburse presenters who showcase Arkansas artists listed on the roster. When an AOT artist negotiates a contract with the presenter, the Arkansas Arts Council typically will subsidize 40 percent of the cost of the event as long as funds are available.

New AOT artists are selected each year through a panel process.

Based in Little Rock, Untapped is Arkansas' first and only professional tap dance company. Matt Boyce founded the nonprofit organization in 2013 with the mission of cultivating awareness and appreciation for the art of tap dance in the state of Arkansas. Through performances and educational workshops, Untapped showcases our nation's rich and diverse tap dance culture and history. Originally from New Jersey, Boyce was formerly involved with two distinct tap dance companies: an educational nonprofit group, and a strictly performance-based group. He was inspired by these two separate experiences to create an organization that combines the aspects of both groups.

Boyce studied at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey, with a focus of Music Education. He is an active leader in the company’s workshops, and has been a guest artist in residence for the Dance Department at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Untapped has held over 150 interactive educational workshops across the state since 2014, working with students young and old from all backgrounds, demographics, and levels of physical ability. Untapped also performs at local events, fundraisers, concerts, etc., as well as produces their own full-length productions to further the mission of promoting the art of tap dance in Arkansas.

Untapped produces original tap dance productions, and has a varied repertoire of performances, such as Holiday shows, swing-style shows, cabaret performances, tap dance history-based shows, jazz shows, and percussive rhythmic-based shows.

Current repertoire:

Legends of Rhythm - takes audiences on a journey through time, highlighting and profiling the biggest legends in tap dance history through reenactments and tributes to iconic routines of stage and screen. Experience the styles of Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, Gene Kelly, Howard "Sandman" Sims, Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers, Ann Miller, Gregory Hines, & more, all set to live music.

Rhythmic Roots - a percussive symphony of tap dance combined with the playing of unconventional instruments such as buckets, crates, and more. Audiences will experience the diverse background and percussive music of tap dance, as well as the other percussive dance styles that influenced its creation.
