Founded in 1998, the violin/piano duo Mariposa takes its name from the Spanish word for butterfly. Their performances feature chamber music masterworks by famous composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, Dvorak, Schumann, and Schubert, as well as by exciting contemporary composers such as Gwyneth Walker, Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, Astor Piazzolla, and others. Concerts are approximately 75 minutes in length, and are designed to appeal to listeners of all ages, and include conversational commentary for the audience.
