As I look at the world around me, I see real life images or scenes as if they were painted with vibrant color on canvas. As a painter, I want people to feel my paintings through the intense colors and the subject matter being used. The intensity of colors I use represents my personality of being joyous and extreme. My interest in painting comes from different places I have visited and images that captivate me. I imagine incorporating different styles and techniques to produce an altered vision of what I see.
Over the years, I have refined my own technique by studying great artists of the past. My best artistic influences for my paintings include Sandro Botticelli, Albert Bierstadt, and Claude Monet. Botticelli for his continuous use of lines throughout his composition; Bierstadt for his strong use of contrast and color to show depth; and Monet for his combination of vibrant colors and spontaneity. I combine all of these techniques to create art that is appealing to my audience. I have gone through a period where I focused on lines and color and a period of loose brush strokes and less definition. I am currently in a period of abstract painting to become more spontaneous. This shows I have not cultivated my own style as an artist. I am still developing who I am by experimenting with many different styles. I will continue to grow until I, too, become recognized for my own techniques.
