My art used to very timid, and in some ways I think it still probably is. I was afraid to use color, afraid to use paint, afraid of shading (one wrong move, and my piece is ruined). I stuck to black and white. I stuck to realism, and I left imagination at the door. As I've gotten older, I've learned to lean into the mistakes, and to allow them to take me somewhere new and unanticipated. My art is usually colorful and imaginative, while still holding on to bits of pen and ink. I enjoy combining black and white pointillism with whimsical colors and shapes (and trees, typically). I seek to evoke a sense of surrealism, but also peace and contemplation.
