In my collage work, I utilize repurposed images sourced from vintage photographs, art textbooks, and fashion magazines to create hybridized and colorful compositions. Often referential to art history, my work is particularly inspired by the compositional language of early Christian and Byzantine art. Ironically however, reverence is not always a priority in my work. Rather, I tend to highlight the absurd by creating humanoid composite forms that beguile the viewer with sumptuous colors, textures, and patterns, which can either excite or repulse. In utilizing existing forms in a unique and unexpected way, my work exists as a contradiction that both comforts in the familiar, and alienates in the re-presentation of the familiar.
