Arkansas Heritage Holiday Open House Events, Dec. 5
Park, walk or take the trolley to enjoy all our downtown museum fun! All events are free and open to the public unless otherwise noted. The Arkansas Governor’s Mansion will also be open from 1 – 4 p.m.

Historic Arkansas Museum, 12 – 4 p.m.  Pomander Ball making at Historic Arkansas Museum
It’s the 54th annual Frolic at the Historic Arkansas Museum, located in the block between Scott and Cumberland off E. Third St. The museum and historic grounds will be open for an afternoon of old-fashioned fun. We’ll have music throughout and old-time fiddling and frolicking on our outdoor green space. There will be lots of “make and takes.” Try your hand at candle dipping, create a button garland to adorn your tree or mantle, make an aromatic herb sachet or enjoy take-home activities, such as a pomander ball kit. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Frolic without hot cider and ginger cake. We will have plenty on hand, including a gluten-free alternative.

Mosaic Templars Cultural Center2 – 5 p.m.
Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, located on the corner of Broadway and historic Ninth Street in downtown Little Rock, has for years, been host to two special December events: Cocoa and Carols and the Say It Ain't Say's Sweet Potato Pie Contest. This year, we are combining these events into one Holiday Open House extravaganza. Join us for music, crafts and a certain Jolly Old Elf (aka “Black Santa”), for a festive Sunday at the museum. And if you’re in the area before Dec. 3, feel free to drop off a new unopened toy for the Robert “Say” McIntosh Stop the Violence Toy Drive in partnership with Central Arkansas Library Systems

Old State House, 1 – 5 p.m.  Christmas Tree at the Old State House
Old State House Museum, located at 300 W. Markham in downtown Little Rock, is proud to participate in Holiday Open House. This year, guests can expect to enter the museum through the sweet sounds of carolers on the steps of our historic building, including Top of the Rock Chorus at 3 p.m. Inside, music will continue to fill the air with musicians strumming out holiday classics in the 1885 House. Refreshments and take-home crafts will be provided, and our beautifully decorated museum is ready to be the backdrop of this season’s favorite selfie. Additionally, catch performances with the Arkansas Chamber Singers Friday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 11, at 3 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 12, at 3:00 p.m. Reservations and mask required for the Chamber Singers concerts at https://www.ar-chambersingers.org/.

Outside Little Rock
Delta Cultural Center, Dec. 4, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Located in Helena at 141 Cherry St., the Delta Cultural Center invites the public to celebrate the holiday season at their annual Holiday Open House. Festivities at the free to the public event include music, drinks, a raffle and the annual holiday bake-off. The DCC Christmas Bake-Off Contest is comprised of three separate categories: cake, pie and cookies. Contestants may only enter one category and winners will be chosen by a select group of judges. The deadline to register for the contest is Saturday, Dec. 4, 9:30 a.m. For more information about the holiday event or the baking contest, please contact the DCC Education Coordinator at (870) 338-4350.
