Visual artist Martha Corff has a desire to share her love of oil painting through workshops and classes. As her emphasis, she stresses design elements and principles, as well as using a variety of materials and experiences. She highlights creativity and thinking outside of the box but believes that the art basics are the most crucial at the elementary and junior high level. She interweaves an introduction to artists, art history, and specific art styles throughout her teaching method.
The field of art is so important in developing the whole student, Martha feels. It touches and enhances English, math, music and the sciences. The therapeutic advantages it offers for teenagers are also of immense importance; it offers students self-confidence, a healthy outlet for expression, and the chance to become happier people. In this way, she hopes to contribute to future generations.
Holding a BA in Fine Art and a MA in History, Martha has taught art for the nine years at Christ the King Catholic School (CTK) in Fort Smith .
