Arkansas250 Commission Participates in Sharing the Spirit of America
 

What: The Arkansas 250 Commission will participate in “Sharing the Spirit,” a nationwide America 250 initiative created by the Hawaii 250 Commission. The event invites people across the country and U.S. territories to join together in a simultaneous public reading of the Declaration of Independence—on the same date and at the same time it was first read 250 years ago.

The Arkansas 250 Commission will host its participation in this commemoration on July 8 at 5:00 p.m. at the Historic Arkansas Museum.

Who: The Arkansas250 Commission 

When: 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2026

Where: Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 E. 3rd St., Little Rock
              
Why: The Declaration of Independence was first read to the public in Philadelphia on July 8, 1776. 
 

Arkansas Heritage
Arkansas Heritage was created in 1975 and is a division of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. There are eight agencies with unique heritage focuses under the umbrella of this division: Arkansas Arts Council, Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, the Delta Cultural Center in Helena, the Old State House Museum, the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, the Historic Arkansas Museum and the Arkansas State Archives.
