A mömandpöp arts-in-education residency for lower grades centers around music, movement, and the basics of how to create an original song. By the end of the residency, each class will receive a CD of the songs written and recorded in their classroom. Mömandpöp's work with older grades focuses on how to create and stage an original script and perform it in an informal or formal setting. The content or subject matter of the plays is decided during pre-residency planning sessions with teachers and/or administration.
Virginia Ralph and Robert Matthews share a combined 30 years+ of working in the field of arts integration, she as teaching artist with "Delta Arts" and "Voices of the South" Narrative Theatre Company and he as a K-5 visual art specialist in the Shelby County Schools. In 2014 the couple joined forces and created "mömandpöp," a musical comedy duo that performs "The mömandpöp Comeback Special," a variety show created especially for kids in pre-school and lower elementary grades with curriculum tie-ins such as days of the week, the seasons, colors, and taking care of one another.
