My primary focus is watercolor and colored pencil. I also enjoy sketching with pencil or charcoal. Often as I work I’ll think, “I wonder what would happen if …”; and then I’ll try it out, usually on a piece of paper I keep handy beside my current project. The way watercolor paint moves in the water and the variety of effects that can be achieved are magical to me. It’s an ongoing exploration. With color pencils, I do not use solvents. I often build the image with many layers, which results in seeing a mere ghost of the final painting emerge little by little.
