My creative process begins with people watching - not only in real life but also through social media. I use found images from social media, old family
photos as well as my own photographs.
The unprimed wood surface on which I paint is reminiscent of the timberlands of native south Arkansas. The wood grain reinforces the movement of the people or their surroundings. The underlying wood grain both physically and metaphorically runs through and connects the people in my paintings to their surroundings. Through the act of painting and examining these people, their emotions, their actions, their movement, their sound and their place, my paintings explore universal qualities of humanity and connectivity.
