I create my art to fulfill two needs. My first desire is to conquer the challenge of seeing a three-dimensional object and translating it to a two-dimensional object so that viewers will see that three-dimensional object. I want to capture on paper a visual image that appeals to the eye but stimulates all the senses--from the roaring power of a crashing wave to feel as though they know the softness of a petal or the spray of ocean water against their face. My second need involves the process of creation. When I paint, I completely lose track of time and enter my world. In this world, my heart takes over. When my work is going well, I am filled with a sense of accomplishment. When it is not going well, I am as persistent as a dog with a bone. My art is an expression of me and how I view the world around me. My artwork is not complete until I am satisfied that the viewer can see my world.
