Despite a long history of intense field studies by many well-respected botanists, another rare plant was recently found at Baker Prairie Natural Area. Previously known from only one other site in Arkansas, Theo Witsell and Brent Baker added early goldenrod (Solidago juncea) to the natural area’s plant list. This rare prairie flower is tracked by ANHC as an element of special concern. ANHC botanists will add this record to our biodiversity database, where we maintain information on almost 900 species of rare plants and animals.
