Before Starting

Please read the Applicant and Project Contact Electronic Submission Workflow before beginning this application, and ensure your application meets the Electronic File Format Standards and File Naming Conventions.

Use the “Add Item” option on the application to attach any supplemental or supporting documents related to your application. Please format supplemental photos into a single PDF document, following the National Park Service Electronic File Format Standards and File Naming Conventions.

Evaluation of Significance

If your building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, please start with the Description of Rehabilitation application.

Description of Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation work is only valid for buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. If your building is not listed, please start with the Evaluation of Significance application.

Both the NPS and IRS strongly encourage owners to apply for a Certification of Rehabilitation before they start work.

Request for Certification of Completed Work

This application should only be submitted after the rehabilitation work has been completed.

Amendment/Advisory Determination

You will only need to use this part of the application if:

  • NPS has requested additional information for an application
  • You are updating an applicant or contact information
  • You are amending a previously submitted application
  • You are requesting an advisory determination
