Clayton Scott – Poet, Educator, and Award-Winning Teaching Artist
“From blank page to spotlight stage, Clayton makes poetry fun, fearless, and
unforgettable.”
25 years of experience inspiring students through the power of language earned Scott the prestigious Governor’s Award for Arts in Education. Clayton has designed a dynamic
residency program that strengthens student writing, creativity, and public speaking skills. He tailors his program to impact students primarily 4th through 8th grades.
The Program: Student Poetry Movement
Clayton’s signature one-week residency takes students on a journey from blank page to
performance stage.
• Monday–Friday progression: Each day builds on the last, introducing creative writing
tools through humor, interactive activities, and engaging prompts.
• Student Poetry Slam: The week culminates in a high-energy poetry slam where students
share their original work with peers, building confidence and presentation skills.
Praise from Educators
“Teachers and administrators express high praise for Clayton’s professionalism, creativity, and
connection with students. He brings an extensive knowledge of poetry with a genuine passion for
teaching and a remarkable ability to engage young learners across a variety of backgrounds and
skill levels.”
