My paintings begin with a diagram inspired by traditional compositional frameworks—medieval geometry, Renaissance harmony, Indian mandala schemas. I disrupt the stability of this framework by splattering, scratching, smearing, and letting my inks and paints fluctuate and settle in unpredictable arrangements. I never fully resolve the push and pull between balance and bedlam; rather, I nurture the contradiction and sustain it within the frame. In leaving the work open, devoid of narrative yet riddled with poetic and mythic allusion, I invite the viewer to meditate on the paradoxical elements of life. Stability and transience, structure and chaos, harmony and dissonance—as artist I cannot choose a side, but only melt and mold contradictions into an aspiration for higher knowledge and greater mystery.
