Arkansas Department of Education Launches ACA250 Website to Commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), in partnership with the Arkansas250 Commission, is proud to announce the launch of Arkansas Celebrates America250 (ACA250), a new website designed to help Arkansans of all ages engage with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders created the Arkansas250 Commission to guide the state’s participation in the nation’s semiquincentennial. ACA250 supports this effort by giving students, families, and educators across Arkansas meaningful ways to explore history, experience our landscapes, and celebrate our state’s role in the American story.

The site invites visitors on a Journey Across Arkansas built around three themes:

  • Connect – Discover the people, places, and industries in Arkansas that helped shape America’s story and preserve our shared heritage.
  • Celebrate – Explore Arkansas’s unique traditions, values, and artistic expressions that capture the spirit of our nation.
  • Contribute – Look ahead by pursuing education, high-demand careers, and opportunities to serve our communities and country.

“As we celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is important for students to learn about the contributions of Arkansans to American history,” Jacob Oliva, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Education said. “These resources will give teachers the tools they need to make sure students have meaningful learning experiences."

“ACA250 invites Arkansans of every age to connect with The Natural State—our history, our cultural heritage, and our great outdoors—while discovering the role Arkansas plays in America’s story,” said Shea Lewis, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism and Chair of the Arkansas250 Commission. “This is a chance to celebrate the places and traditions that make Arkansas unique and to see how our landscapes and people continue to shape the nation’s past, present, and future.”

The Arkansas250 Commission will continue to introduce statewide programs—ranging from historic markers and museum exhibits to local community celebrations—leading up to the nation’s semiquincentennial in 2026.
