The Delta Cultural Center will host the 7th Annual Beans, Greens, and Cornbread Contest on May 11, 2024, at the DCC Depot Museum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This unique event has participants competing to earn awards for best in the three categories of Beans, Greens, and Cornbread. There will also be an overall "People's Choice" trophy, that includes a monetary reward. Both amateurs and professionals may enter the event and are welcome to participate in one, two, or all three divisions.
Beans, Greens, and Cornbread is free to attend and open to the public. Make sure your taste buds are ready, because samples will be served. It is preferred that you register ahead of time, but participants may enter the event up to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. Entry forms may be obtained at the Delta Cultural Center anytime up to the start of the event. However, it is recommended that registration be done earlier, so staff will be able to provide adequate set up and assistance. Participants must remain with their entries for the entirety of the event.
Independent judges will choose the winners of each category, but the People's Choice award will be picked by visitors. Since this category will not only be based on taste, but presentation, it is recommended that entrants prepare beforehand.
The contest will be held in the Delta Eagle Room of the DCC Depot at 95 Missouri Street in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. In addition to the food competition, there will be entertainment.
