Brandy Thrower joined the Arkansas Arts Council this summer as our grant administrator. She has a keen eye for detail and analytical processes.
Brandy, of Little Rock, has a background in graphic design. She previously worked as a research project analyst for the Department of Finance and Administration and as a designer of forms for the Department of Finance and Administration. She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Arkansas – Pulaski Technical College.
Brandy volunteers regularly at FS Event Services and dotes on her amazing, 4-year-old son, Bryson.
Questions:
Q: Sweet or Savory?
A: I prefer sweet, but chocolate is my favorite.
Q: What pets do you have and what are their names?
A: I don't have any pets, but I use to have a cat named Mac when I was in middle school. I do have one blue cactus and two red ones.
Q: Where is the weirdest place you have vacationed?
A: Texas but only because I get very anxious on their highways.
Q: What is your art or creative outlet?
A: It’s between dance and listening to classical music. I did ballet for three years in middle school and in high school, I was on drill team for three years, and on flag line for one year.
Q: What does your job here entail?
A: I'm the Grants Specialist for the Arkansas Arts Council. I work on the budget, and I'm in charge of making payments for our applicants.
Q: Where do you hope to see the arts in Arkansas in five years?
A: I hope the arts become more widely known in Arkansas. It’s always amazing to see the different artistic approaches artist take with their craft. I would also want to see how expressive and informative the work will become.
Q: Why do you think the arts are important?
A: Art is involved in everything from how the cars are designed, fashion, event planning and writing a book. Art is involved in every aspect of life no matter how small. Art matters and the history behind will forever be meaningful.
