Registration open for MTCC’s annual Sweet Potato Pie Contest

Mosaic Templars Cultural Center (MTCC), a museum of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, is accepting applications for the 2018 “Say It Ain’t Say’s” Sweet Potato Pie Baking Contest.

Registration is open now. The event will be Sunday, Dec. 2, from 2-5 p.m. Deadline for registration is Nov. 16 at 4 p.m.Register online at or in person at the museum.

Each year, MTCC hosts its signature “Say It Ain’t Say’s” Sweet Potato Pie Baking Contest in conjunction with its annual Holiday Open House. The festive, family-friendly event includes 12-16 participants who compete for bragging rights for the best sweet potato pie in Central Arkansas. First- and second-place prizes are awarded in both the professional and amateur categories. A people’s choice winner will also be selected.The 2017 winners include:

Professional Classification

1st Place – Kelli Marks, Cathead’s Diner, “Perfectly Purple Pie”

2nd Place – Anne Woods, Honey Pies, “Bubba’s Sweet Potato Meringue Pie”

Amateur Classification

1st Place – Delores Morris, “The One by Dee”

2nd Place – Dana Yarbrough-Fluker, “Scrumptious Sweet Potato Pie”

People’s Choice – Dana Yarbrough-Fluker, “Scrumptious Sweet Potato Pie”  

Registration for the event is free, but participants must bring a toy to donate to Robert “Say” McIntosh’s “Black Santa” toy drive. Registration forms are available at
