Registration Open for MTCC’s 6th Annual Sweet Potato Pie Contest

Mosaic Templars Cultural Center (MTCC), a museum of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, is accepting applications for the 2017 “Say It Ain’t Say’s” Sweet Potato Pie Baking Contest.

Registration is open now. The event will be Sunday, Dec. 3, from 2-5 p.m. Deadline for registration is Nov. 17 at 4 p.m.

Each year, MTCC hosts its signature “Say It Ain’t Say’s” Sweet Potato Pie Baking Contest in conjunction with its annual Holiday Open House. The festive, family-friendly event includes 12-16 participants who compete for bragging rights for the best sweet potato pie in Central Arkansas. First- and second-place prizes are awarded in both the professional and amateur categories. A people’s choice winner will also be selected. The 2016 winners include:

  • 2nd Place – Lily Chanel Sweets

Amateur Classification

  • 1st Place – Tamara Kelley
  • 2nd Place – Shanna McCoy

People’s Choice

  • Latrice Catering

Registration for the event is free, but participants must bring a toy to donate to Robert “Say” McIntosh’s “Black Santa” toy drive. Registration forms are available at
