Mosaic Templars Cultural Center will host its annual Juneteenth celebration on June 16.

MTCC hosts the festival each year to celebrate African American freedom and achievement. This year’s event will be Saturday, June 16, from noon to 6 p.m. and will include vendors, food trucks, live music, a kids zone and more.

Attendees can also view the museum’s newest exhibit, “Don’t Touch My Crown,” which opens June 14 and explores the history surrounding African American hair and beauty culture.

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. From its Galveston, Texas, origin in 1865, the observance of Juneteenth as a celebration of African American emancipation has spread across the United States and beyond. Today, Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement.

Vendor and sponsorship opportunities are available.
