"Are you for California?" This was the big question of March 1849 as James McVicar, Robert Brownlee and other local residents prepared for their trek West in search of GOLD in California.

Our winter programming culminates this March as we focus on the travel and preparations for such a long journey. Could you make the 2000-mile trek across the wilderness on rations of coffee, bacon and ash cake? Could you repair a broken wagon wheel or care for sick friends? If you’re ready for the adventure, visit the Print Shop on our grounds to see if you have what it takes to join the Little Rock and California Association!
Visit our living historians every Saturday in March as we cook up some rations, cure the sick with some natural remedies and gather supplies for the journey.

Experience something new each Saturday, as we offer different activities and demonstrations are throughout the month!
