July’s 3rd Saturday theme is “Beat the Heat” and will explore how Arkansans in 1851 passed the time in the sweltering Arkansas summer. As you roam the historic grounds, you’ll come upon costumed interpreters doing needlework and mending clothes, something that could be done in the shade with little exertion.
You’ll also learn about how the architecture of the houses helped keep things cool as well as about summer fashion and fabrics. The Print Shop will be open and you can try your hand at pulling a print. Everyone is invited to “make and take” an accordion fan and partake in a refreshing, historic drink.
