African American History Coordinator

The Black History Commission of Arkansas is proud to announce the 2022 February Symposium titled “African American Medicine in Arkansas”.

The symposium will 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022 at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center located at 501 West Ninth Street in downtown Little Rock.

 Cherisse Jones- Branch - "They Say They Are Maligned and Traduced: Black Medical Professionals in Arkansas"

- Dr. Jesse Hargrove - "Arkansas's Hidden Hospital History: How Separate-But-Equal Never Became Equal"

- Dr. Joycelyn Elders - “My Journey to the White House”

Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. the day of the event. A boxed lunch will be provided to those who register for the event.
