Creating makes me happy. I am drawn to simplicity and like the challenge of communicating ideas without representing recognizable images. It is intriguing to me that a thought can be communicated through a line, shape, color or texture.
Although I don’t represent nature in my art work, it does serve as my inspiration. I love being outdoors where I can observe both finite details and the grandeur of sweeping vistas; it’s the space to breathe.
Working in two mediums helps me balance my interest in detail and big abstract ideas. In both small mixed media works and large scale acrylic painting
I’m concerned with finding harmony between the positive and negative space and exploring the symbolic relationship between the tangible world we
think we know and the ethereal.
