Attend an Arkansas History Workshop for Continuing Education Credit!
Join the Department of Arkansas Heritage this summer as we explore the enduring rural heritage. Each Arkansas history workshop will
provide an overview of the county and town, one or more tours of locally significant places and information specific to the
workshop location.
All workshops are approved by the Arkansas Department of Education.
Each Arkansas history workshop will provide six hours of continuing education credit, with two hours of instruction in the history of Arkansas. Verification of attendance will be provided as follows:
- Participant will receive a certificate of attendance and an ADE form
- Each cooperative and school district will be sent a verification report
- Attendance rosters will be added into a database maintained by the Department of Arkansas Heritage
We recommend you seek approval from your principal and/or superintendent for use as professional development.
All workshops are free of charge and open to any educator in the state.
Reservations are required. You will need to enroll at www.arkansasheritage.org
Participants will be responsible for all transportation needs to and from workshops. Please note the some of the workshops will have multiple locations during the day. Participants will need to use their own transportation to visit each site. These workshops include: Stuttgart, Petit Jean, Heber Springs and Batesville.
This year we have added bus tours to some of our sessions. We will provide transportation to all venues during the day for workshops in Helena, Sunken Lands, and Magnolia.
All workshops will include a walking tour. Comfortable shoes and casual clothing are highly recommended.
Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Participants will be responsible for lunch. Depending on the location of some workshops and the timeframe of the schedule, a sack lunch is highly recommended.
All of our workshops will benefit teachers of social studies, gifted studies, special needs and ESL. Some of the workshops will be of use to instructors of language arts, science, art and consumer science as well as music facilitators.
Each workshop is designed for 45 participants. When space becomes available, we will offer a waiting list and contact potential candidates of available space.
You are invited to attend more than one workshop. There are seven distinctive workshops, each focusing on the rural heritage of the area.
