Arkansas was the crossing ground for American Indians being removed from
the southeastern United States between 1820 and 1840. Although Arkansas's government played only a small part in the removal policies, the citizens
of the state were eyewitnesses to removal.
Delta Cultural Center
By 8500 B.C., the Native Americans living in the Arkansas Delta were active
hunters, but they also participated in long-distance trading. The Delta
Cultural Center's exhibits feature murals dealing with the life of Native
Americans and how life changed with the arrival of the Spanish and French
