Since 1992, Arkansans have endured a turbulent decade in the political history of the state. Clinton's predecessor, Jim Guy Tucker, abruptly resigned from office in 1996, following federal fraud charges. Today, Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Republican, has become the state's third Republican governor since Reconstruction. His lieutenant governor is Winthrop Rockefeller II, son of Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller.
