Area restaurants honored with Food Hall of Fame recognition - from KAIT8

Department of Arkansas Heritage - Wednesday, April 11, 2018

(KAIT) - It has been said that there is a lot of history when it comes to restaurants in Northeast Arkansas.

Now, the Arkansas Department of Heritage has honored several area restaurants for consideration in the 2018 class of the Arkansas Food Hall of Fame.

The Dixie Pig and Kream Kastle Drive-In, both in Blytheville, were named as two of nine finalists this year for the hall of fame. The hall of fame was created in 2017.

Several other area restaurants also received recognition.

They include Clara's Midway Cafe in Tyronza, Presley's Drive In in Jonesboro, Tacker's Shake Shack in Marion, the Skillet Restaurant in Mountain View and Uncle John's in Crawfordsville.

According to the Department of Heritage website, the general public can nominate restaurants for the list. A group of judges then select three restaurants around the state to be a part of the class.

The restaurant must be owned and operated in the state of Arkansas and must be in business for at least 25 years to be eligible for the honor.
